Creativity Sensitivity

Exam procrastination has drove me to record and put up a few songs that have been neglected. Here is another one…

Probably going to regret not doing more…but here’s an xray of a skull so you know my head is in the right place.

Rivers Run Clear – original

It’s been quite a while since I last posted anything or checked much on this. Recorded this wee nombre so thought I would put it online for anyone to listen to 😀

Listen to Rivers Run Clear (original) by Junior Chills Official #np on #SoundCloud

Junior Chills – I’ll Swim Again (original)

I have been fairly quiet on this for a long time. Haven’t posted much of anything. Decided to go back to university to study so that alone coupled with part time work and full time fatherhood I don’t really have time to bless myself 😀

But I have been still writing and playing away in the background. I had a bit of spare time this morning so thought I would rustle this one up quickly and fire it online.

Hope you like it!!

Singer / Songwriter Competition

I decided to enter a singer / songwriter competition for the craic. Like various attempts in the past I will probably receive a juicy rejection email but sure it’s all for a bit of fun anyway.

I wrote and recorded a new song recently and it just so happened to be 3 minutes long which was a stipulation for the competition. So if you have 3 minutes to spare please have a listen to it.

You can vote also but only do so if you think its alright 🙂

On The Lonesome Road (original album)

Junior Chills – On The Lonesome Road (original album)

With the onset of fatherhood and a return to education I haven’t had the time I once had to regularly update my WordPress page. However I have been endlessly writing new songs to keep ‘stress’ at bay. I find that writing my songs are the easiest part but finding time to record them is quite tedious. Nevertheless I got a few hours today to upload not just one song but a handful which I have put into a wee album.

The songs explore a lot of different topics well the usual ones that I explore anyway. Although I love playing all the songs I write, I particularly enjoy Daydreaming, Stress and Ireland Bound.

So check it out. Give it a listen to. Find out a song which sticks out for you and let me know. Any and all feedback is greatly received and appreciated.

Hope you enjoy it.

Junior Chills – Far From The Road

Far From The Road (original)

This is a song I wrote several months ago in an attempt to compose a simplistic song. Very basic chord progressions and lyrics seemed to fit together well so I thought it was a good time to put it online.

Bit of a stretch vocally but sure if you don’t try, you won’t know…

I suppose, looking at it, Far From The Road is a bit of a romantic number. It discusses how places link memories, how affection can make everything else seem irrelevant…quite like Blanche I suppose with her quote ‘ There are things that happen between a man and woman in the dark that sort of make everything else seem unimportant’.

Just a thought. Just a song.

I hope you like it.

Junior Chills – Salmons’ Dream

Salmons’ Dream

Very random title. Very random song. I think I have always been fascinated with the bullshit theory that fish have only a three second memory…I think this could have been spawned from a fishing trip where I caught a fish with a hook in the eye, took it off, threw it back in and then caught the same dumb ass mutilated fish again…which I then brought home because being Irish I thought there was an old proverb somewhere that said ‘Catch a fish and give it to the sea, catch it again and you’ll get cash money moneeeeee’…I made that up…

I don’t think that they do have three second memories. But do they dream? What if they did dream? Would a salmon dream about walking down the road…this reminds me of Billy Connolly’s joke about how Wildebeast don’t know that they’re wildebeasts because there are no mirrors in the Serengeti Plain…this salmon in the story doesn’t think he’s a fish…he thinks he’s one of those walking things dandering about on the shore line!!

Again it is just a wee song that I put together…I have never dreamt that I have been a salmon so it’s unrealistic that the salmon would dream of being us…why would they? Christ, it’s just a song!!

I hope you like it.

Junior Chills – The Thief

Junior Chills – The Thief

‘The Thief’ is a song I wrote a few years ago and one which I always wanted people to hear. I had it lined up as one of my set list songs for a busking competition in Belfast and literally, as I went to play it, I was told that my time was up…no more songs for me!!

To be honest I had sort of forgotten about the song since then and came across it today as I was flicking through my song book. I know the previous few songs I have put up have been historically based (and linked maybe) but now I will return to playing just my normal songs…for a while at least.

‘The Thief’ is a song a person who not only steals objects but other peoples’ feelings too.

I hope you like it.

Junior Chills – Sins of Ireland

Junior Chills – Sins of Ireland

I haven’t gave much thought into writing anything about this song if I’m honest but I’ll run with it and see where it takes me.

If you have listened to my other songs you will know that the music sounds very similar to the song ‘Hoops’…that’s because it is!! But this song was wrote first and I couldn’t find any other music to fit in…actually, I didn’t even try. The song is called ‘Sins of Ireland’ but I think it is more of a satirical song which delves into some popular misconceptions about the Irish – we are all alcoholics, we all know Irish dancing, we love gambling (but this could be more of a local stereotype where someone who loves gambling would be said to put money on two flies racing up a wall).

Each verse looks at a different month of the year: May, July, September, December, February, March / April and tells a story about what happened in each month between a married couple.

I think that the line I love the most in the song is ‘In the rain of July lad, I decided to take a trip, I brought the wife to Cashel Rock, and I left her there in Tipp (Tipperary)’. Typically weather in July would be nice, maybe even warm. In Ireland the weather is, more times than not, a nice cool, cloudy, rainy constant…even during the summer.

St Patrick’s Day and the third day of Cheltenham…fuck it! Few pints and a few bets 😉

Enjoy folks and remember to Tóg é go bog é

Junior Chills – Emerald Isle (Original)

Junior Chills – Emerald Isle (Acoustic Original)

It took me quite a lot of time to decide whether or not to put this song online…and the songs which are to follow. It was a decision I made on the basis of history and my love for history and I didn’t want to miss the chance due to the significance of 2016. This year is the centenary of the Easter Rising, which was an event which took place throughout Ireland in 1916 with a focus on Dublin City Centre. It was an event which triggered a whole series of events which would transform the political landscape of Ireland forever.

The song itself is a brief, maybe rushed, synopsis of Ireland’s history. There are a lot of different events alluded to in the song and the order is quite disjointed. I think that this is because when I wrote the song different periods of Ireland’s history were coming to me at different times and I liked the way that it did not flow chronologically.

Although academics would frown on this being included here, if you want a brief history of Ireland check out the following link:

All in all, the message in the song is one of hope for Ireland. Hope and peace.

I hope you like it.
